1. Profile of School of Hydraulic and Ecological Engineering
School of Hydraulic and Ecological Engineering is one of NIT’s schools/departments with profound history, co-growing with NIT, with profound deposit and having accumulated rich teaching experience and cultivated a large number of excellent talents for water conservancy industry in our country. Our School follows the motto of “landscape understanding with diligent practice”, always adheres to the road of connotation development, takes Deng Xiaoping Theory and the important thoughts of “Three Represents” as guidance, fully implements scientific outlook on development and the Party’s educational policy, takes undergraduate teaching as center, discipline construction as leader, team construction as foundation, reinforcing management as guarantee, strengthening discipline and facilitating major construction as driving force; makes characteristics majors stronger and superior majors better, expands emerging majors; vigorously improves the ability of scientific research back-feeding teaching, focuses on enhancing the training quality and level for applied talents, builds the cradle for engineers, and makes contributions to hydraulic and local economic development as well as social service.

2. Profile of Faculty Members of School of Hydraulic and Ecological Engineering
Our School currently has 110 faculty members, including 6 professors, 33 associate professors, 63 lecturers, 47 doctors and 13 candidates for PhD degree. People with professional titles of associate professor and above account for 35.5% of total teachers, and people with master and above degree account for 85.8% of total teachers.

3. Major Profile of School of Hydraulic and Ecological Engineering
Our School currently sets up such 9 undergraduate majors as hydraulic and hydropower engineering, water and soil conservation and desertification combating, garden and park, surveying and mapping engineering, hydrology and water resources engineering, agricultural water conservancy engineering, geological engineering, landscape architecture, port channels and coastal engineering; and 1 junior college major, hydraulic and hydropower engineering, and also owns the right to train specialized master in the field of hydraulic engineering. Hydraulic and hydropower engineering is a national characteristic major, water and soil conservation and desertification combating is a Jiangxi provincial characteristic major; hydraulic and hydropower engineering and water and soil conservation and desertification combating are the majors for the second batch of “education training plan for outstanding engineers” of Ministry of Education and the majors for “education training plan for outstanding engineers” of Jiangxi Province; garden and park as well as agricultural water conservancy engineering is the major for “education training plan reform pilot of excellent agricultural and forestry talents” of Ministry of Education, in which the major of garden and park was approved to be “education training plan for excellent agricultural and forestry talents of general undergraduate higher institutions in Jiangxi”; hydraulic and hydropower engineering, hydrology and water resources engineering as well as surveying and mapping engineering were approved to be comprehensive reform pilot major in Jiangxi; “training mode innovation experiment area for engineering applied water and soil conservation talents” was approved to be provincial-level talent training mode innovation experiment area. Employment rate and postgraduate qualifying rate rank among the best in NIT.

4. Postgraduate Training of School of Hydraulic and Ecological Engineering
The School owns the right to train specialized master in the field of hydraulic engineering, recruiting specialized postgraduate students in such 3 orientations as hydrology and water resources, water and soil conservation and hydraulic and hydropower engineering. Postgraduate education innovation base in the field of hydraulic engineering was approved to be postgraduate education innovation base of Jiangxi. Meanwhile, we train post doctorate jointly with Jiangxi Institute of Water Conservancy, and have established postgraduate training base in Jiangxi Institute of Water Conservancy, Jiangxi Institute of Soil and Water Conservation and Ganzhou Institute of Water Conservancy and Power Survey.

5. Profile of Research Institutions of School of Hydraulic and Ecological Engineering
Our School establishes 3 school-level research institutions, Poyang Lake Research Institute, Hydraulic Engineering  Research Center and Ecological Institute. We currently owns such 2 major disciplines of higher institutions in Jiangxi for the 12th five-year plan as hydraulic and hydropower engineering and water and soil conservation and desertification combating, Jiangxi hydrology-water resources and water environment major laboratory, Jiangxi water engineering safety and resources efficient utilization engineering research center, Jiangxi ecological hydraulic coordination innovation center, Jiangxi post-doctoral innovation practice base for water engineering safety and resources efficient utilization, and other provincial-level major platforms. We have built such seven in-campus experimental centers as hydraulic engineering experiment and practical training center, surveying and mapping engineering experiment center, water and soil conservation experiment center, biological technology experiment center, subtropical region ecological and environment research center, hydrology-water resources and water environment experiment center and irrigation and drainage, totaling 52 laboratories, with experiment equipment value of over 30 million yuan. We have also built a batch of stable off-campus internship and practical training bases.

6. Profile of Scientific Research Projects of School of Hydraulic and Ecological Engineering

In recent years, our School gives full play to self advantages, actively launches scientific research and social service, having successively presided over and finished a great number of scientific research subjects at state level and provincial and ministerial level, having obtained abundant scientific research achievements, having undertaken a good deal of scientific research and design projects in hydraulic and hydropower engineering, with research funds of over 30 million yuan.

7. Objective of School of Hydraulic and Ecological Engineering
Our School now has over 3,000 students. Party Committee of our School always adheres to the concepts of “moral education first, paying equal attention to five kinds of education”, takes quality-oriented education as main line, relies on moral education, actively launches five cultural circles activities such as “ideological politics, guidance of public opinion, technological talent, behavior development and edutainment”, and creates five-love atmosphere among students as “loving party, loving country, loving water conservancy, loving the collective and loving self”. Our School not only emphasizes students’ professional education but also focuses on cultivating students’ comprehensive quality, facilitating students’ overall development. In recent years, we have trained over 1000 activists of Party application, and students’ party branch actively guides students to participate in various activities with remarkable results, having won a lot of provincial and school level honors. Majors of our School have cultivated a great number of talents in hydraulic industry for the society, graduates  root in basic level, work hard in entrepreneurship, there are over 300 graduates acting as leaders in units of the country, and part of graduates obtain master and PhD degrees, having become backbone of national hydraulic industry.
