School of Science


Established in July 2005, formerly Department of Science, School of Science currently owns the faculties wide in subject fields, rigorous in pursuing studies and rich in teaching experience, having 73 faculty members now, including 60 secondary specialized and vocational teachers, 7 experiment teachers and 1 foreign “Yaohu Scholar”. There are 4 post doctorates and 20 doctors among the faculties. The proportion of teachers with PhD and above degree ranks the forefront of NIT. There are 10 PhD candidates and 1 “Yaohu Distinguished Young”.

School of Science sets up such four teaching and research offices as information and computing science, advanced mathematics, college physics and applied chemistry, as well as the research institute of mathematics and applied mathematics. It undertakes the teaching and scientific research task of public basic courses in the category of mathematics, physics and chemistry, as well as the talent cultivation task in the major of information and computing science.

NIT currently owns school-level major construction discipline “Applied Mathematics”, the major of information and computing science and such two provincial-level high-quality courses as Advanced Mathematics and College Physics, possesses a science basic experimental center high in modern technological content and complete in teaching and scientific research functions, consisting of physics experiment center, basic chemistry laboratory and information and computing science laboratory, in which physics experiment center was elected s provincial-level demonstration teaching experiment center and it is the experiment teaching base for physics competition of provincial high school students. Since the approval for construction of chemistry laboratory in 2013, we completed the construction of the laboratory valuing 1.3 million yuan in 2014, completed 2 million construction in 2015, and the construction of analytical chemistry laboratory was approved in 2016 and obtained project fund of 2 million yuan.

Since the establishment of School of Science, teachers of the School have successively presided over and participated in over 60 state-level and provincial and ministerial-level scientific research subjects, among which, presiding over 6 natural science foundations of China, having over 200 papers published in core journals and recorded in SSCI, SCI, EI, ISTP and CSSCI, publishing 15 monographs and textbooks. In recent years, teachers in our School have obtained remarkable teaching achievements, having won 3 second prizes in provincial-level higher institution teachers’ teaching competition and 3 first prizes in school-level competition. The School has also established supervisorial class for postgraduate entrance exam, which is under the instruction by teachers of our School. Students in the supervisorial class have far more exceeded those in similar classes. The qualifying rate ranks the forefront among higher institutions in the province. In recent years, the postgraduate enrollment rate is obviously higher than similar institutions. Our School takes charge of organizing and training students to participate in national college students’ mathematical modeling competition and national college students’ mathematics competition every year. In recent three years, we have won 6 first prizes, 11 second prizes and 26 third prizes at state level, as well as over 50 provincial rewards.

School of Science is focusing on course construction, constantly perfecting talent cultivation mode, vigorously introducing top-level talents, strengthening faculties construction, building teaching and scientific research experiment platform, deepening teaching reform, improving connotation construction, innovating teaching concept, further increasing academic level in education and teaching and scientific research, and striving for first-class performance.
