Mountain, Water, Forest, Field and Lake Institute is established upon the application by School of Economics and Trade, review by Academic Committee of NIT and approval by Party Committee of NIT in order to deeply implement the spirit of the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the 3rd Plenary Session of the 18th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, grasp and put into practice President Xi Jinping’s statement in Decision of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on Several Major Issues in Fully Deepening Reform that “mountain, water, forest, field and lake are a life community, lifeline of people lies in field, that of field lies in water, that of water lies in mountain, that of mountain lies in earth and that of earth lies in tree”, implement President Xi Jinping’s vital instructions for strengthening the construction of think tank and Vice Prime Minister Liu Yandong’s important speech spirit in the symposium of “prosperously developing philosophy and social science in high institutions and promoting the construction of characteristic new think tank in China”, propel the construction of characteristic new think tank of higher institutions in China. Secretary of Party Committee of NIT, PhD Liu Moyan, is hired as President of Mountain, Water, Forest, Field and Lake Institute, and Dean of School of Economics and Trade Wan Yiping serves as Executive Vice President, with daily jobs affiliated to School of Economics and Trade.
Mountain, Water, Forest, Field and Lake Institute plans to root in Jiangxi, by virtue of actively undertaking research projects entrusted by governmental sectors like Agricultural Work Department of Provincial Committee, Department of Water Conservancy, Tourism Bureau, Forestry Bureau, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Water Resources, and etc., hiring experts of actual work department as part-time research personnel to join in the research group to carry out cooperative research, encouraging full-time and part-time personnel of the Institute to undertake advisors of actual work departments, and other measures, carries out consultation service for government sectors at all levels and all sectors of society, improves the comprehensive research ability to solve relevant major practical problems related to mountain, water, forest, field and lake and the ability to participate in major decisions, becomes famous thinking tank and consultation service base in Jiangxi, offers decision implementation opinions for Provincial Party Committee, and serves for “scientific development and green rising” of Jiangxi, and strives for becoming a famous research base of mountain, water, forest, field and lake at home and abroad, thinking tank and consultation service base for Party and government departments, academic exchange and data information base, high-level talent cultivation base, makes every endeavor to expand the influence of the Institute at home and abroad especially in higher institutions, becomes a characteristic new think tank of higher institutions in China, puts forward forward-looking strategic thinking and decision implementation opinion for our country realizing virtuous cycle of large ecological system of “mountain, river, forest, field and lake”, forming the mode of “prospering the land with water, boosting the fortune with land and flourishing the water with fortune”, and realizing the multi-win benefits of hydraulic engineering, ecological resources and economic development, and practically plays a role as thinking tank and brain trust.
At present, the Institute covers such four research orientations as water ecological compensation, water ecological and regional development, water ecological and industrial development as well as water ecological economic accounting. We possess an area of nearly 200m2 for office rooms and nearly 5000 paper books and periodicals. In recent three years, we have obtained abundant achievements, set up 37 vertical projects and 6 horizontal projects above provincial level, including 2 projects of national natural foundation, 2 national education planning projects, 2 humanities and social sciences projects of Ministry of Education and 30 provincial-level projects; we have concluded 19 vertical projects and 6 horizontal ones above provincial level, including 1 humanities and social sciences project of Ministry of Education and 18 provincial-level projects; obtaining external scientific research funds of 1875 thousand yuan, having published 143 papers, including 44 papers in SCI journal, EI journal, authoritative journal and CSSCI journal like Indagationes Mathematicae-new series, Chinese Journal of Population Science, Journal of Huazhong University of Science & Technology (Social Sciences), Journal of Central University of Finance & Economics, Journal of Finance and Economics, and etc., including 3 ones reprinted by Xinhua Wenzhai and Photocopied Materials of Renmin University of China. We obtained 1 treatise published under the publication fund support of philosophy and social sciences of Jiangxi, included into library of philosophy and social sciences achievements of Jiangxi, and obtained 2 second prizes for excellent achievement of provincial social sciences and provincial class planning.
