Graduate Department

In 2011, Nanchang Institute of Technology(NIT) was approved as a pilot unit for professional master's degree under the “National Special Needs Talents Training Program”. In 2013, the Graduate Affair Office was launched to take charge of academic disciplines and graduate education. In 2017, NIT became one of the first-class discipline construction institutions in Jiangxi Province. In 2018, it was authorized to confer master's degrees. The Graduate School of NIT was established in 2020. In 2022, NIT was approved as a new doctoral degree-granting institution during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period in Jiangxi Province.

NIT currently owns two provincial first-class disciplines in Hydraulic Engineering and Electrical Engineering, with the discipline of Engineering Science ranking within the top 1% globally on the ESI index. There are three first-level master's degree authorization points in Hydraulic Engineering, Management Science and Engineering, and Information and Communication Engineering, as well as ten professional master's degree authorization points in fields such as Electronic Information, Applied Statistics, Translation, Publishing, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Power, Civil and Hydraulic Engineering, Forestry, Business Administration, and Design. NIT is home to one national demonstration base for joint training of professional degree graduate students in the field of Hydraulic Engineering, two provincial-level joint training workstations for graduate students, one provincial-level graduate education innovation base, and two provincial industry-university joint training bases for graduate students. With a total of 594 internal and external mentors, there are 1,174 graduate students currently enrolled.

NIT has deepened the comprehensive reform of graduate education and teaching, strengthened connotation construction, and achieved remarkable results in graduate training. It won two first prizes for graduate teaching achievements at the provincial level. In the random inspection of master's degree theses at the provincial level, the pass rate has been maintained at 100% for consecutive years; the recommended theses for evaluation as excellent master's degree theses have a 100% excellent rate. A large number of graduate students sent by NIT to society have become the backbone of their respective industry fields, winning a good social reputation, and the employment implementation rate of graduate students ranks among the top in the province.
